The Desert Racer Classic hosted by the National Hare and Hound Association returns!
Situated just outside of Ridgecrest, California, riders can expect fun flowing trails for all skill levels and a challenging breakaway loop with technical terrain and balanced trail difficulty. This is a bike-only event. Youth riders will race on Saturday, and Adults will race on Sunday. A National number is required, and temporary numbers are available for purchase $10 at Registration.
Please note: There has been substantial monsoon flooding in the area. The course has been marked with many dangers, and rerouted to avoid critical areas. However there are many rain ruts now formed throughout the region. Riders are asked to observe all markings, and avoid straying from race course.
Do NOT use Teagle Wash Road to come into race site, enter on Steven’s Mine Road to Pipline Road.

Entry Fees
- Youth Event:
- Race 1 (Pee Wee): ~2.4 Miles for 30 Minutes
- Race 2 ( Jr. Girls, Micro Mini Sr, Micro Mini Jr): ~7.4 Miles for 1 Hour
- Race 3 (Big Wheel, Girls, Mini, Jr. Mini): ~9.7 Miles for 1.5 Hours
- Sunday: ~ 70 Miles
- Loop 1: 38 (1 Loop Only for: Masters, Pioneers, Women C, Super Senior C, Hooligan, Adventure, Trophy, Women Vet 35+)
- Loop 2: 28 (All remaining classes complete both loops)

- There are no camping, gate or membership fees.
Other Fees
- All racers must have a Moto-Tally Transponder – $10 (required and must be place under helmet visor, existing Moto Tally strip is okay to use if in good condition). Moto-Tally transponders typically last for multiple years if maintained properly, and are compatible with any series that also uses Moto-Tally scoring.
- All riders must be an AMA Member. Memberships are available at Registration:
- Day Pass Membership: $25 (Day Pass may credit towards Annual membership post-event)
- Annual Membership: $49
- There are NO Membership fees / NO camping fees / NO gate fees
Anything special I need to bring for this race?
- Camping is encouraged, as the nearest hotels are roughly 30-mins away.
- Cash or Check, Credit Card services available if service permits.
- There is Start practice for Sunday racers on SUNDAY morning from 7am-9am. Riders are NOT permitted past the end of bomb per series rules.

The Terrain
Racers of the Desert Racer Classic can expect to cross vast open valleys, dry lake beds, technical trails, rocky obstacles and fun flowing sand washes. The region does not typically seemoisture leading up to the event, and riders can expect dust if there is no rain fall.
Terrain In The Area
The Spangler Hills Off-Highway Vehicle Area (OHV) offers over 57,000 acres of open public land where you can ride anywhere your skill and machine will take you.
Off-Highway Vehicle Recreation Opportunities: The Spangler OHV Area provides a wide variety of riding opportunities including cross country play, trail riding, advanced technical routes, 4-wheel drive trails, and Enduro, Technique Trials, European Scramble and Hare Hound competitive events. The area provides an uncrowded riding opportunity in the Western Mojave Desert three hours north of Los Angeles.

- Take I-15 North towards Barstow.
- Take exit 179 for CA-58 toward Bakersfield
- Continue onto CA-58 W for 29 miles
- Take exit 206 toward US-395 N
- Turn right onto US-395 N for 26.4 miles
- Turn right onto Trona Rd for 15 miles
- Follow race signs for specific direction to Race Site.
From Las Vegas:
- Take I-15 South towards Barstow, for approx. 154 miles.
- Take exit 179 for CA-58 toward Bakersfield
- Continue onto CA-58 W for 29 miles
- Take exit 206 toward US-395 N
- Turn right onto US-395 N for 26.4 miles
- Turn right onto Trona Rd for 15 miles
- Follow race signs for specific direction to Race Site.
