2020 Official Schedule + The Mint 400 Information

We are so excited to welcome The Mint 400 to our 2020 series schedule, and appreciate the opportunity to showcase the toughest off-road riders in the United States at the “Great American Off-Road Race”. This event will be suitable for the entire family, and for the first-time in Mint 400  history YOUTH motorcycle racing will be integrated into the event.

For our series racers, it’s very straightforward as to what to expect.  The event DOES pay points as normal, and the NHHA staff is working very hard to ensure this weekend will be “as per usual”. Please expect higher entry fees for this event, but we promise you, IT WILL BE WORTH IT. The Mint 400 is a high-quality event that harnesses the very culture of off-road racing in all forms.

Motorcycle racers will tech on Thursday, March 5th this year, and special provisions will be made for youth racers that want to push down Fremont Street with the adult bikes. Adults will race on Friday, March 6th in front of an estimated crowd of 10,000 spectators, while the youth will race on Saturday, March 7th in front of even larger crowds on hand to watch the premiere four-wheel Unlimited Truck class compete.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be partnering with The Mint 400 in 2020, and to add the flavor of Las Vegas to our 2020 schedule. This is an incredible opportunity for not only us, but also our racers and long-time sponsors like Kenda Tire, SRT and FMF, and supports our mission of growing the sport and modernizing one of the purest forms of off-road motorcycle racing,” said NHHA Chairman, Meg Argubright. “We are working very closely with the Martelli Brothers to ensure the motorcycle racers of the Mint 400 benefit from the same high standard we strive to deliver at all stops of our racing series. In addition to our National class structure, our support extends across all classes of The Mint 400. From Harley’s to Team and unique tribute classes, there will be something for everyone. and we are so excited to make this a special event for the two-wheel community.”

NHHA + THE MINT 400 FAQ

What’s the difference between Mint 400 and NHHA?

  • Just like each round in the series, we are partnering with an organization to put on a GREAT event for you and your family (just like we partner with Sugarloafers Motorcycle Club for the Cherry Creek National, for example). The event is The Mint 400, and the NHHA is sanctioning the event. It will pay series points for all riders (aside from teams), the class structure is exactly the same as always (with the addition of team classes that do not pay points) and all rules remains the same (both AMA and Supplementals).

What if I only want NHHA points?

  • ALL motorcycles will earn NHHA points (except for Team classes). By signing up as a motorcycle to race The Mint 400, you will earn series points as normal.

What class do I sign up for?

  • All classes are National classes (except for Team classes). You will register for your class as normal at TheMint400.com.

How will this be different than our normal races?

  • The scale of this event will be much larger than normal. From Registration in Las Vegas and the Vehicle Parade down Fremont Street, to the grand finish line in Primm, we will be part of a large off-road racing festival. Some key differences for this event are:
    • Pre-Registration will ONLY be available through TheMint400.com website (NHHA is still the contact in the back end). NHHA staff will be on-site for Registration as normal.
    • Entry Fees will be higher than normal, for this event only.
    • All riders will go through Tech Inspection. Details to follow.
    • All riders MUST use a tracker for safety purposes. Your pit crew and family at home can follow you all race in real time throughout the course.
    • The course will be one, long loop, raced across multiple times (desert scramble style). Number of loops will be determined by class/skill entered.

How much is it to race?

  • For Pro class riders (Pro, Pro 250 and Pro Women), the entry fee is $350, + the mandatory Yellow Brick tracker is $150.
  • For all other Adult classes, the entry fee is $250 + the mandatory Yellow Brick tracker is $150.
  • For all Youth, the entry fee is $150, and Pee Wee is $100. No tracker is required.
  • By this round in the series, you should already have an AMA membership, transponder and number on your bike, therefore you will not need to purchase these items for this event. A transponder will be provided at no cost should a rider need one.
  • There are no membership fees of any kind required by NHHA or The Mint 400.
  • All costs associated with racing The Mint 400 are included in your entry fee. No additional fees will be collected. However, you must provide a major credit card and small security deposit for the yellow brick tracker and transponder during onsite registration
  • FROM NOW UNTIL JANUARY 1ST, ALL ENTRIES AT 10% OFF! Click HERE to get entered.

What’s included in the entry fee?

  • Your entry to compete in the event ($250 Adults, $350 Pro, $100 Pee Wee, $150 Youth)
  • Prize Purse/Contingency  (all classes)
  • The Yellow Brick Tracker (adults only), and your Scoring transponder (if you don’t already have a Moto Tally Transponder)
  • Campsite in Primm, Nevada (first come first serve basis)
  • Rider Gift Bag that includes a racer shirt, commemorative Mint 400 decanter, socks, sunglasses, sponsor gifts and MORE.
  • 8 Tickets for the Start and Finish Line
  • Vehicle Parade on Fremont Street
  • Access to Off-Road Festival
  • Awards Banquet
  • All costs associated with racing The Mint 400 are included in your entry fee. No additional fees will be collected. However, you must provide a major credit card and small security deposit for the yellow brick tracker and transponder during onsite registration

Why is it so expensive?

  • From the Vehicle Parade in Las Vegas, to the unique land that was graciously approved by BLM, to the Awards Banquet and EVERYTHING in between. The scale of the event is much larger than we are used to, and because of this, the fees are updated accordingly.
  • The entry fee covers everything from permits, staffing and materials, to safety services, insurance and more.
  • The Yellow Brick Tracker fee (adults only) is for the service and product. These are high quality trackers, and worked very well in 2019.
  • AMA National Hare and Hound entry fees are some of the lowest in the country. And while we are all used to these extremely low entry fees, these fees don’t account for the real costs put forth by our partners to put on an AMA National Hare and Hound event. We’re going big for this event, and it will be worth it for our racers and families!
  • All other season events will keep the same registration fee you are used to. The higher entry fee is for this event ONLY.
  • Keep in mind, this is a GREAT opportunity for riders to attract sponsorship.

Why do I have to run a tracker?

  • The primary reason is safety, and the mandate by BLM to track all riders during competition.
  • All riders can be tracked easily by your friends and family on-site and at home.
  • Tracker MUST be returned at the finish of the event.

Where do I register?

  • All pre-event registration for The Mint 400 will take place on TheMint400.com. The NHHA staff will be on-site to facilitate on-site registration.
  • Should you have any questions about registration or the motorcycle side in general, you can reach out to us directly as normal.

How will scoring work?

  • The NHHA is scoring this event as normal, and results will be posted and function as normal.

Do I need a pit crew?

  • Because of the length of the loop, you will need a pit crew(s) to give you fuel at various points of the course. This depends on your fuel tank capacity. Details will be provided as course is finalized.

What day will I race?

  • All adult racing will take place on Friday morning, March 6th.
  • All youth racing will take place on Saturday morning, March 7th.

Do I have to change my number?

  • NO. By this point in the series, you should already have your approved season race number on your motorcycle.
  • If you have NOT, you will need to request your number for approval. 2020 number requests open December 4th, 2019.

Why isn’t there an Ironman class?

  • The AMA National Hare and Hound class structure is based on single rider classes already, so everyone already technically an “Ironman”. Team classes may have 2-4 riders, and team classes do not pay points.

Why are there team classes?

  • We want to give everyone a chance to experience racing! The Team classes feature special classes like Vintage, Family, and more for those who want want to take on the race with other riders with unique specifications.

Do Team classes count towards NHHA points?

  • NO. Team classes will NOT receive series points.

How many miles will it be?

  • We are currently in the process of outlining the exact course details and mileage, which will allow us to give you a clear picture of mileage. We will stay as close as possible to your usual mileage (Masters, Women C and Pioneers for example), but give you a great amount of mileage for your money. You can expect fun, fast flowing terrain with integrated technical sections.

Will the course be marked different than I’m used to?

  • No. All course markings will be according to The Kurt Caselli Course Marking Guide, just as you normally ride with at all other events.
Will I be on TV?
  • Maybe! This event is HEAVILY covered by a long list of media and publications. Motorcycles benefited from lengthy coverage in 2019.

Can I volunteer?
