SERIES CLASSES:

1. The following are the classes in which the National Youth Hare and Hound Points will be accumulated:

Super Mini (Big Wheel) (12-15) 66-112cc 2-Stroke / 75-150cc 4-Stroke

Junior Mini (85cc) (7-12) 66-85cc 2-Stroke / 75-125cc 4-Stroke

Micro Mini (65cc) (7-11) 52-65cc 2-Stroke / 52-90cc 4-Stroke

Pee Wee (50cc) (4-8) 0-51cc 2-Stroke / 0-78cc 4-Stroke

Girls (11-15) 66-112cc 2-Stroke / 52-150cc 4-Stroke

CLASS DESIGNATIONS:

1. All Class number plates will have a National designation (N) and color, except the earned Super Mini numbers. The letter ‘N’, indicating National, must precede the rider’s number and be the same size. The class indicator will follow the rider number and be half the size of the number.

All other riders will receive a temporary number.

Super Mini (Big Wheel) – No Designation – White Number/Red Background

Junior Mini (85cc) – N # Z – White Number/Black Background

Micro Mini (65cc) – N # K – White Number / Green Plate

Pee Wee (50cc) – N # P – Black Number / Yellow Plate

Girls (11-15) – N # G – White Number / Blue Plate

RACE PROCEDURE:

1. All events shall run a designated minimum approximate time limit or distance which shall be: Pee Wee – 25 Minutes / 5 Miles; Micro Classes – 35 Minutes / 10 miles; Junior and Super Classes – 1 Hour / 30 miles. Classes can be combined as long as they meet the time limit or distance minimum.

2. Classes may be separated into rows or start together. Starts will be dead engine with riders astride their motorcycles. No straddling the front wheel. Banner will be held for no less than 1 minute before start of the event. Additional non-series support classes must be run separate from all series class and must be previously advertised.

3. The first rider to complete the designated event time will receive the checkered flag and his exact time (to the nearest second) of the finish shall be recorded. All subsequent riders shall be given the checkered flag and their exact finish times be recorded. In order to be considered a finisher a rider must complete at least 50% of the laps of the winner of his/her class. Pee Wee riders must finish 1 lap to be a finisher. In a loop race all riders must complete 100% of the distance to be considered a finisher.

4. Scoring shall be based on total elapsed time (from time of start to time of finish) and total laps/loops completed.

5. In order to be eligible for series points, a rider must finish in the top 20 of his/her class.

PROGRAM:

1. At each event, all series classes must be run. At the promoter’s option, additional support classes may be run. If youth support classes or ATV support classes are offered, they must be run separate from the Championship program.

COURSE:

1. Course must be a minimum of 1 mile long for Pee Wee and 3 miles long for all other classes.

2. Couse must consist of “bomb run”, pit row and course return which allows for all classes to remain lined up before the next race start.

3. Course must be marked in a standard way using ribbon, arrows and pennants

START PROCEDURE:

1. Start procedures shall be explained at Rider’s Meeting

2. Riders, pit crews, machines and equipment are not permitted on the starting line until authorized by the race official.

3. Riders shall line up on their assigned start row on a first come first served basis. Race bike can only reserve start position. No crates, practice bikes, stakes etc.

4. Riders may only walk start to designated “bomb”.

5. All starts are dead engine. A “two minute” warning will be given before the start of the event.

6. Once the banner is raised all engines must be shut off and all crew members must leave the start area.

The banner will be held for no less than one minute. Once the banner drops all riders may start.

Pee-Wee and Micro riders may ONLY receive help starting their bike 15 seconds after the banner drop.

All other classes may receive no outside assistance.

7. Once event starts there will be no outside assistance allowed by parents or crew members outside of the “pit row”. Only other racers or course workers may help riders.

8. NO CHASE RIDERS ALLOWED DURING EVENT.

CHAMPIONS:

1. All riders who earn a Class Championship for the series in the previous year will be allowed to display their earned number on their motorcycles during all National Youth Hare and Hound competition provided they participate in the same class.

2. Only those riders earning Championship Numbers may display them.

3. Class champions will be decided by the points accumulated in two less than the total number of the events in the series if there are 9 or more meets. If the series has 8 or less meets, class champions will be decided by the points accumulated in one less than the total number of events in the series.
